Ten years of
scar tissue, applied.
I've watched brands dismiss live commerce as a China phenomenon while their Singapore customers spent Friday nights buying skincare from a host who remembers their username. The behaviour has crossed over; the discipline hasn't. Most local attempts fail for boring reasons — no show structure, no trained host, no offer architecture, no plan for the 97% who watched but didn't buy tonight.
A livestream is a show with a till attached. Shows need casting, formats, rhythm, cliffhangers and a reason to return next week. When those exist, live commerce does something no other channel can: it compresses awareness, trust and purchase into a single hour, with unit economics you can read the same night. When they don't, it's an awkward webcam and a discount code.
